My name is Ramón Königshausen and I am a Zurich based Cinematographer with Swiss and German citizenship. My interest in moving images began during highschool where I co-directed my first documentary «Zero Scale» (ot: «Spur Null») which premiered at the 39th Molodist Film Festival 2009 in Kyiv. After pursuing a short but successful career as a slalom and downhill skateboarder until 2011, I attended the Bachelors programme in film at Zurich University of the Arts and graduated my Masters degree in cinematography in 2018. Since 2020 I am part of Sabotage Kollektiv.
Notable projects include Millimeterle (First Steps Award 2015), Les Heures-Encre (Swiss Film Prize 2019, Camerimage 2017), Cru (Camerimage 2019, Winner Tribeca Student Visionary Award 2020), Das Spiel (Camerimage 2021, Venice Film Festival 2020) and my feature film debut Füür Brännt (Rotterdam Bright Future 2023).
My main focus is on narrative storytelling, both fictional and documentary. Joining a director’s vision and seeking for the style that serves the story and evokes empathy with its characters is my favorite part in filmmaking. I feel comfortable shooting with a spontaneous, intimate and intuitive style but I also love crafting strict, elaborate concepts that require a lot of research and inspiration.
When I’m not out shooting I’m either working in a dark room (as a Colorist) or enjoying my free time collecting mushrooms, cooking, mountainbiking or discussing film projects with potential collaborators and friends.
